Introduction to the RadRunner 3 Plus

The Rad Power RadRunner 3 Plus represents a pinnacle in utility-focused electric mobility, combining cargo-carrying versatility with refined engineering. Designed for urban commuters, small business owners, and active families, this compact utility e-bike bridges the gap between traditional bicycles and heavy-duty cargo haulers.

Frame Geometry & Ergonomics

At the core of the RadRunner 3 Plus is a meticulously engineered 6061 aluminum step-thru frame. The geometry is optimized for an upright, commanding riding position that enhances visibility in dense traffic. With a low center of gravity, the frame inspires confidence even when fully loaded with cargo or passengers. The wheelbase provides stability at higher speeds without sacrificing nimble steering agility in tight urban environments.

Motor Performance & Powertrain

Propelling the RadRunner 3 Plus is a custom-built 750W geared hub motor delivering an impressive 75 Nm of torque. This powertrain configuration ensures rapid acceleration from a standstill and makes conquering steep urban inclines effortless. The integrated cadence sensor translates pedal input smoothly into motor assistance, while the intuitive twist-grip throttle offers immediate power on demand. Depending on regional regulations and user configuration, the bike operates within Class 2 or Class 3 speed parameters.

Battery Engineering & Safety Metrics

Energy storage is managed by a semi-integrated 48V, 14 Ah (672 Wh) lithium-ion battery pack utilizing premium cells. Crucially, safety is paramount: the electrical system is fully UL 2058 and UL 2849 certified, ensuring rigorous testing against fire and electrical hazards. The Battery Management System (BMS) provides comprehensive protection against overcharging, deep discharge, and thermal runaway, delivering an estimated real-world range of 25 to 45 miles depending on assist levels, payload, and terrain.

Braking, Suspension & Ride Quality

To safely manage its considerable payload, the RadRunner 3 Plus employs hydraulic disc brakes paired with large 180mm rotors, offering progressive bite and reliable stopping power in all weather conditions. Up front, a custom hydraulic fork with lockout and preload adjustment smooths out rough pavement, potholes, and utility covers. Rolling on custom 20″ x 3.3″ fat tires with built-in puncture-resistant liners and reflective sidewalls, the bike delivers a plush, stable ride while maximizing contact patch area for superior traction.
